Early Years Practitioner

Our recently graded ‘outstanding’ nursery, due to increased demand, currently has a vacancy for an inspiring and talented Early Years. Here you will provide high quality care and learning opportunities for children aged from 0 to 5 years. You will be enthusiastic, have great interpersonal skills, enjoy working as part of a team and want the very best for our children.

It is here that the ‘magic happens’ (Ofsted 2017).  We pride ourselves on our extremely successful, nurturing environment with highly skilled staff. Our belief is that children thrive when they are consistently happy and safe at school.

The Centre is open from 7.45am – 6.00pm, Monday to Friday.  Hours of work will be on a shift basis to cover these opening hours. Hours can be flexible for the right candidate. Haven closes for the period between Christmas Day and New Year.

This post is 37 hours per week, 52 weeks a year with a starting salary of £18,933, alternative hours or a Term time only position would be considered for the right candidate ∞

Special Needs Assistant

Our continually graded ‘outstanding’ nursery is looking to expand our ever growing team to include an inspiring and talented Special Needs Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with SEND. The post will initially be primarily working 1:1 supporting child in our 3-4 year-old provision.

It is at Haven that the ‘magic happens’ (Ofsted 2017).  We pride ourselves on our extremely successful, nurturing environment with highly skilled staff.  Our belief is that children thrive when they are consistently happy and safe at nursery.  Whatever a child’s background or starting point, we believe that every child can achieve. The ability to demonstrate initiative, to be flexible and to work as part of a team are all essential skills required for the role.

The Centre is open from 7.45am – 6.00pm, Monday to Friday.  Hours of work will be on a shift basis to cover these opening hours, although hours can be flexible/fixed for the right candidate. Core hours are 9am-4pm. Full time or part time positions available depending on candidate. 52 week contract or Term Time Only would also be considered. Please state preference on application.

 

Applicants should hold at least a relevant Level 2 or 3 Childcare related qualification
or be willing to work towards this as an Assistant

This post is 37 hours per week, 52 weeks a year with a starting salary of £18,562 (FTE) depending on hours offered (HCC B Grade). Salary/pay grade negotiable depending on experience and qualification, alternative hours or a Term time only position would be considered for the right candidate.  HCC C Grade would be offered should the candidate be level 3 qualified.

Site Manager

Do you have outstanding practical skills and an eye for detail?  Excellent time management skills?  Are you proactive, well organised and able to work on your own initiative?  Do you have exceptional communication skills and a ‘can do’ attitude?  We are looking for a hardworking and experienced Site Manager to join our busy support team working on the maintenance and upkeep of our Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ Nursery.

 

The successful candidate will understand the requirement to maintain the premises to a very high standard and be committed to providing a clean and safe environment for all Centre users.  It is essential to be able to work independently, using own initiative and prioritising workloads. 

 

The successful applicant will need to:

 

  • Be responsible for the security of the site, including acting as a principle key holder and attend the Centre in response to “callouts” in emergencies.
  • Ensure Health & Safety systems are in place and maintained so that all practices and emergency procedures are safe and adhere to requirements.
  • Develop, manage and provide a planned caretaking programme, undertaking repairs, and maintenance and decoration tasks.
  • Carry out recruitment, induction, training, supervision and appraisal of site/cleaning team.
  • Select and manage on site contractors and suppliers, having regard to value for money, operating within annually agreed budget allocation.
  • Possess strong and effective interpersonal skills with a positive attitude towards others whilst maintaining a professional manner and high level of confidentiality.
  • Be a good communicator (both orally and in writing) and be IT literate.
  • Have good organisational skills; able to use own initiative and work as part of a team.
  • Have working knowledge of health and safety legislation and a good understanding of COSHH regulations.
  • Undertake appropriate Hampshire County Council training to ensure that the demands of the role are effectively met.
  • Be reliable and take pride in their work.

 

This is a permanent part-time role, 32.5 hours per week, 52 weeks a year with an actual starting salary of £18,799 (HCC Grade D). Normal working hours will be Monday to Friday, 7.00am – 2.00pm (to include a 30 min lunch/break). Some evening work will be necessary to cover caretaker/cleaner absence and some weekend work may be required. Hampshire County Council Terms and Conditions apply, including the option to join the Local Government Pension Scheme.
